Join MoCP Executive Director Natasha Egan for a curatorial tour of If Emmett Till Lived: Freedom on American Ground, guest curated by Sarah Elizabeth Lewis in collaboration with Reverend Wheeler Parker, Jr., Emmett Till’s cousin, best friend, and the last surviving witness to his kidnapping.

Drawing from MoCP’s permanent collection, the exhibition brings together photographs by more than 110 artists to ask a profound question: What might Emmett Till’s life have been had he safely boarded the train home to Chicago in 1955?

Egan will guide visitors through selected works in the exhibition and discuss the curatorial process behind this creative monument to Till’s unlived life and continuing legacy. The tour will also explore how artists, members of the Till family, and civic and cultural leaders contributed to a collective consideration of remembrance, freedom, and the possibilities of the life Till was denied.
