An evening of dance at the Harris Theater celebrating the legendary collaborations between choreographers Trisha Brown and Merce Cunningham and the visionary American artist Robert Rauschenberg, uniting the work of these iconic 20th-century artists in a programme of original presentations designed by Rauschenberg.

The programme includes a 1983 work with a driving score by Laurie Anderson, for which Rauschenberg’s translucent set and costume designs illuminate the piece’s exploration of visibility and invisibility; and a 1977 vaudevillian work that, prior to this programme, had not been performed by a professional company since 1979, staged with a John Cage score comprising recordings of bird songs and telephone calls.

While widely recognised for his contributions to visual art, Rauschenberg played a significant role in the performing arts over several decades, both as a performer and as a designer for choreographers.
