Founded in 1983, UIC Gallery 400 is the contemporary art presenter of the University of Illinois Chicago, the city’s largest university and one of the most diverse in the US. Located on the north edge of UIC’s campus and the south edge of the West Loop neighborhood, the Gallery is not-for-profit and educational, supporting contemporary art, architecture, and design through multi-disciplinary exhibitions, lectures, publications, and programs that prioritize interpretative reflection and critical inquiry. Affiliated with the UIC School of Art, we are recognized for our support of the creation of new work, experimental curatorial models, and programming. Our work cultivates varied cultural and intellectual perspectives that center overlooked histories and Latine, Black, and disabled artists.
