Process/Process

For over two years, Process/Process has published artists’ prints out of a studio located in a shop called Campfire Printing Press, which is one year old and located in Pilsen. Process/Process works with contemporary artists, moving their practices meaningfully into the realm of print. We’ve published editions by Hai-Wen Lin, Kay Rosen, Michelle Grabner, Candida Alvarez, and Victoria Martinez, to name a few. We are so excited to be working out of Campfire Printing Press, a new printshop that is also home to artist studios, public programming, and workshops that are open to the public.

Victoria Martinez: Ribbon Fence

September 14 – October 31, 2026, by appointment

Ribbon Fence is a series of colorful monoprints by Victoria Martinez newly published by Process/Process. Join us for a special reception and exhibition viewing.

Working at our Pilsen print studio, Martinez composed each image in real time, first by painting the wrought iron fences common to Chicago’s Lower West Side with ink made from hibiscus flowers; then, by running ribbon-like, vinyl tape through the press in playful arrangements; and finally, by adding shapes in various colors. The works in Ribbon Fence incorporate plastic ribbon sourced from a nearby hardware store and natural pigments.
