Since its initial founding in 1992, Carrie Secrist Gallery has continuously developed and adapted, refining its approach to the local (Chicago), national, and international art markets alongside its commitment to supporting and sustaining artist careers. In 2024, the gallery relocated to its current home: a 10,000-square-foot, light-filled, double bow-trussed repurposed warehouse in the heart of the city’s West Town art district.
Reopening as SECRIST | BEACH, the gallery has intentionally redefined itself—not only physically, but programmatically. Within this new model which marries contemporary gallery programming with the curatorial consideration of a Kunsthalle, each solo exhibition is presented with a concurrent survey exhibition, bringing together likeminded artists whose practices resonate with the solo artist’s conceptual framework. This structure broadens the contextual parameters of each exhibition, fostering dialogue across artists’ practices while also engaging other curators, critics, collectors, architects and performers.
