Tala is a contemporary art gallery located in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The space includes a gallery, a listening and reading room, and an atrium marketplace, offering a new gallery model that platforms experimental art practices, refusive modalities, and confluence across disciplines. The name Tala means ‘bright star’ in Tagalog and derives from the mythology of Tala, the goddess of the morning and evening star who was revered for guiding light during times of loss. Founded by Francine Almeda in 2024, the gallery is committed to building intentional pathways for the next generation of artists of color.
