The Driehaus Museum

Located in Chicago’s River North neighborhood just steps from the Magnificent Mile, the Driehaus Museum is housed within the meticulously restored Nickerson Mansion—completed in 1883 at the height of the Gilded Age—and the adjacent 1926 Murphy Auditorium. With a campus comprised of two Landmarked buildings, the Museum offers an immersive setting for exploring the art, architecture, and design of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries through today.

The Driehaus Museum engages and inspires a global community through exhibitions, programs, and ongoing conversations that connect history with contemporary ideas. In addition to presenting its acclaimed collection, the Museum collaborates with expert curators, scholars, and artists to develop special exhibitions that offer fresh perspectives on art, design, and cultural history.

Since 2019, the Museum’s recurring exhibition series, A Tale of Today, has invited contemporary artists to create site-responsive installations that place contemporary art in dialogue with the Museum’s historic architecture, collections, and spaces.
