Devon VanHouten-Maldonado is the Executive Director of SkyART, a nonprofit that provides free art and mental health programs for young people from Chicago’s South and West Side communities. He holds an MA in Social Sector Leadership and Nonprofit Management from the University of Chicago and a BFA from the Pacific NW College of Art. Under his leadership, in 2025, SkyART opened its second permanent location in the Garfield Park community. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, SkyART is growing again, expanding its South Chicago studio with additional studio spaces and private therapy spaces through a $2.5M grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). Devon also serves on the Advisory Board of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ), and, in 2022, he was awarded the Elevating Youth Voices Award from the Bright Promises Foundation.
